Monterey has been a recurring vacation destination for my wife and I for 25 years and the past 15 we've stayed exclusively at the Victorian Inn. We love the room, the staff are very friendly, and the location is perfect. There are several good restaurants (starting with Zab Zab Thai and Crystalfish) within a block of the hotel and it is within a few blocks walk of the main tourist areas of Cannery Row, the Monterey Aquarium and Fisherman's wharf. Will be staying there as long as they let us. ; )

We are repeat visitors to The Victorian Inn and to its sister property, The Wave Street Inn. We always stay at either of these two hotels when we visit Monterey for long weekends. We've always had pleasant experiences with the front staff. Location is top notch--close enough to all of the attractions but just enough off of the main strip so it is not too noisy. If you don't want to bother with sit-down restaurants, there are plenty of good nearby take-out food options if you prefer to eat in your room (Sea Harvest, Pelican Pizza, Crystal Fish, Cannery Row Deli). We've always had a clean room. I appreciate that they restrict dogs to the rooms on the first floor so we can reserve a room on the top floor and not have to worry about dog smells or barking. The breakfast buffet is nothing fancy but it's enough to get us going in the morning. Parking Garage is clean and well lit, although it's a bit pricey. Only two things we would love to see improved: better/thicker blankets in the rooms! The beds only have a sheet and a couple of very thin blankets, and it gets cold in the winter months. Fortunately for us, we drive into town and can bring our own extra blankets (which we do), but it would be nice to already have better blankets in the room. And the courtyard could use some upgrades--perhaps better furniture and a couple of fire pits? Overall, we are always happy to stay here

We stayed 2 nights at the Victorian Inn to give ourselves a small break during a road trip down the coast. This inn has great potential, but has a few points of improvement. It is an older/dated open air property, so if you are looking for or used to modern and prisitine comfort keep that in mind. If you are traveling with a pet or don't mind a little more "character" it might be a good fit. Pros: room was very large and spacious. Double sinks inside and outside the bathroom were nice. The evening wine and cheese hour was quaint and a nice little relaxing moment. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety. The staff are incredibly polite and helpful. The location is fantastic for being able to walk to tons of attractions and sites. Well worth it to pay to use the parking garage with security ($17 a day). Cons: Rooms are dated and could use some refurbishing/maintenance, with cosmetic details like chipping wood on the mantle, scrapes in the floor and door frames, and rust spots. The first floor are pet friendly rooms, which is great if you are traveling with your furry family member. Not great if you have dander allergies. The room was surface clean, but upon deeper look it definitely left some things to be desired. There were a few cobwebs on the ceiling. Under the beds was a large layer of pet hair and dust. Which irritated my husband's allergies. The tub is very shallow, a stand up shower would probably be a better use of the space. These are all things that could be addressed and really enhance the experience. Overall our stay was pleasant, but since we were there for more than a single night it wasn't what we'd hoped for. I do think we would stay here again, but we'd request a non pet friendly room on one of the upper floors. This place could definitely be 5 stars if they do some updates.

I recently returned from Monterey, staying at the Victorian, They had my room ready an hour early, it was cozy but not fancy, with a sliding door opening to the garden (good for dog), Nice walk-in shower. Crummy coffee. Better than average breakfast. Close to Aquarium and Fisherman's Wharf. Convenient covered parking was nice during rains.

A wonderful place to stay when in Monterey! It was in great walking distance of Cannery Row and also had a spacious parking. The staff were very friendly and the place was very clean. I felt safe while staying here and will be making the Victorian Inn my first on the list to stay when coming back to Monterey. The continental Breakfast was good! And the free wine and cheese was also good!

We had an amazing experience at Victorian Inn! We had the premier room with vaulted ceilings and a marble gas fireplace, and the room was extremely spacious, clean, and luxurious. The location of this hotel is perfect, its walking distance to Cannery Row and the aquarium, but set apart a bit from the chaos of the main street. We especially loved the delicious hot breakfast every morning. Would definitely stay here again!

Great option for downtown Monterrey! Fantastic location for clean rooms and friendly service. The room itself is charming, if not slightly outdated. There was an in-room fireplace that was very cozy, a comfortable bed, and spacious sitting area. Over all a great value for the stay right in the middle of Monterrey. The young gentleman at the front desk was so polite, welcoming, and informative. Check in was a breeze, and he was obviously very busy, but made us feel special. :) Id for sure visit again myself, but would let family members know about the rooms having a dated feel. I think its charming.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Victorian Inn in Monterey, California. We spent five days and four nights there, and from the moment we arrived, the experience was exceptional. Every single staff member was genuinely warm, welcoming, and hospitable, and they went out of their way to make us feel at home. They were kind enough to let us check in a little early, which was such a nice start to the trip. Traveling with our dog made the stay even more special because they had treats waiting for him upon arrival. That thoughtful touch really set the tone. The staff also shared wonderful local recommendations that helped us make the most of our time in Monterey. Our room was absolutely adorable, impeccably clean, and clearly well cared for. We especially loved using the electric fireplace, which made the room feel extra cozy and relaxing. The complimentary wine and cheese hour was another highlight and such a lovely way to unwind in the evenings. The location is perfect. It is just the right distance from the pier and incredibly walkable, making it easy to explore the area without needing to drive. Overall, the Victorian Inn exceeded our expectations in every way, and we would happily stay here again. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Monterey.
